: Hi Todd
: Sorry about the last post. I pressed the button too soon.
: Just thought I would mention: If you touch on a bit of glass cloth here and
: there you may notice it slightly through varnish but it won't really
: affect the overall strength. It is really not worth bunging another coat
: of epoxy on for touching the odd spot of glass weave.

Thanks Et,
I'm with you on that one. If the worst I have is a couple white specks showing (and I will) for my first time out-the-gate, I can live with that.
If I did by chance offend anyone with my earlier generalization that we (users of this forum) might 'border on the side of anal', please accept my apology. It was more an assertion of myself. Least that's what my wife tells me, and, well, she is smarter than I. Proves it to me damn near every night during dinner watching Jeopardy. Seriously, how many times do they need to use 'the Bard' as a category?
Regarding Rob's advice, having already tagged glass a couple times, I was a little leery of going with the 120-grit on the ROS. Took the time this morning to take out some of those swirls with wet 220-grit over a small portion. Took a bit of work, but the swirls did evaporate nicely. Had no idea such a smooth surface could be put back on the epoxy!
Gotta confess though, I left for a while, letting the cleaned area dry. Came back later and wet it all out again. Looking from nearly every angle with a beautiful full sun beaming down on the surface, I could see no difference. Wet, both saturated and barely, the swirls seem to disappear. Might regret it, but I'll varnish as-is.
Knowing what I know now, there are several things I'll do differently next time round. This may be another of them. As Rob eluded to earlier, live and learn.
Todd
