Yup, it's hauled off and usually ends up at a concrete plant where they can get an exhorborant (?) price for it. They don't just dump it in a land fill. It's being used to replace a portion of the cement in concrete. Processed cement is getting expensive in the States and Europe because the building boom in China is sucking up most of it. It's use is being mandated by a lot of State/DOT's for use in bridges because it yields higher strength and lower permeabilities over time. As a side benefit it just happens to make a nice filler for epoxy! Silica fume: wonderful stuff.
