since the paperbacked stuff is cheap, maybe buy one sheet and play around with methods of removing the paper and adhesive - theres a good chance that paintthinner be able to dilute and remove the glue and then wash that off with soap and water.
as the veneer is so thin, it will be the same quality both sides.

maybe stupid, but layup on forms with veneerlayer w/ paper in, spread epoxy and the next veneer layer with paper out. Let fully set.

then use the pt thinner and water wash and hope the veneer doesn't move too much - prob wont as the epoxy is a good glue. Let dry and epoxy on next lyr same way with paper out. remove paper etc. add next layer, etc.

might work. I certainly intend on trying this with the next (or the next) model i build - layer of glass ea side of paper backed veneer for thickness(the stuff i can get is way thinner than 1/16" unfortunately), strength and stability, then cut patterns in the sheet to fit.
