: You won't be paddling with tennis shoes, specially with a SOF, too many
: things for the laces to get stuck on then you're really attached to the
: boat, bad thing if you're upside down and your roll fails.

Not to worry... I just use my tennis shoes to make sure I've sized the boat well enough. Depending on the boat and what type of water I'm in, I have water shoes, wet suit booties, or neoprene socks. I found it somewhat interesting that a few of the pictures in Morris' book showed folks test sitting their boats with what appear to be lug sole hiking boots!

: I can't get in any of my boats now with more than wet socks on, even the
: neoprene treaded paddling shoes won't fit, just not enough toe room. You
: get used to that :)

But alas, after getting used to needing a big vehicle, mail order shoes, and all the other wonderful stuff that goes along with being slightly larger than the average person, I just didn't want to go on another 10 mile paddle and wind up walking like a duck! At least in building a boat, there's something I can do about it!

This thread started out being about a strip boat. I looked into strip built, and stitch and glue kits. I still drool over the CLC catalog. But I settled on the skin on frame specifically because of my size 16 feet.
