: Not to worry... I just use my tennis shoes to make sure I've sized the boat
: well enough. Depending on the boat and what type of water I'm in, I have
: water shoes, wet suit booties, or neoprene socks. I found it somewhat
: interesting that a few of the pictures in Morris' book showed folks test
: sitting their boats with what appear to be lug sole hiking boots!

: But alas, after getting used to needing a big vehicle, mail order shoes, and
: all the other wonderful stuff that goes along with being slightly larger
: than the average person, I just didn't want to go on another 10 mile
: paddle and wind up walking like a duck! At least in building a boat,
: there's something I can do about it!

: This thread started out being about a strip boat. I looked into strip built,
: and stitch and glue kits. I still drool over the CLC catalog. But I
: settled on the skin on frame specifically because of my size 16 feet.

Last year I would have agreed with you, this year after paddling my odd group of kayaks for season I've found that you can get used to having your feet angled out when sitting in the kayak and gradually will prefer that position.

I most certainly would have argued that this would never be comfy, not now though :)
