: layer of glass already under the strip that covers the entire hull and
: wraps around the ends of the bow and stern. There is also glass inside the
: hull and a fillet along the seam at the bow and stern. So I would think,

: cause the panels to come apart. I will probably go with sanding since
: there is a layer of glass cloth under the tape strip and I'll just be
: careful not to sand through that as well!

Btw, my Greenlander has a external keel strip that runs to about 2" or maybe 3" down from the deck, those ends take alot of abuse that you'd miss if it were lower. Agree running it to the deck would look odd. On the Greenlander it's a black keel strip on a melon (yellow) hull, so there's no hiding the fact that it's there
