Btw, my Greenlander has a external keel strip that runs to about 2" or maybe 3" down from the deck, those ends take alot of abuse that you'd miss if it were lower. Agree running it to the deck would look odd. On the Greenlander it's a black keel strip on a melon (yellow) hull, so there's no hiding the fact that it's there :)
