It's all over but the paint, and some deck rigging - all in two weeks and change! Part time, of course. It's a direct copy of another generic "Yostified" Greenland style SOF boat that I built last year. Except that I covered this one in canvas, rather than transparent vinyl. It's 20 inches wide and almost 17 feet long. Weighs around 35 lbs, I'd guess.
It's a non-folding, wood framed boat, and I've definitely been sold on quick and easy building, and the low expense of SOF kayaks like this. I built the frame as per Tom Yost's construction manual- http://yostwerks.com - and skinned it using hints I garnered from the "Skin Boat School's" video tutorial - http://skinboats.org/skinboats/sewing_your_west_greenland_kayak.html
I'm currently building two more SOF's - both Yost designs this time. If all goes well, I should have them done within the month . . . .
