I've done this on a few paddles and like the look. I'm not sure I would chance doing it on something as big as a kayak. One thing I did notice is the material will take on the colors that it has when it's wet, not what you see in the store. The pattern I chose lost some of it's punch when the yellow turned gold, etc. That being said, some cloth looks better wet than dry, so give it a test. You may like it. Just be sure you're willing to live with it for awhile if you use it on something big.

Ross is correct about getting it around curves. That can be tricky.
