: With all the SPAM, has it ever been considered to upgrading to better
: software? Maybe assigning a couple of regulars as moderators to delete the
: SPAM?

I do have a couple helpers to keep up with the spam, but it is true that this script in easy for spammers.

There is a newer version out that is said to be a little better with spam, I just have not had a chance to upgrade yet.

I have looked a lot of different scripts looking for something better, and I must say I don't like the way any of them work.

One of the beauties of this particular script is the way it lets threads evolve in a variety of directions. As the topic changes people can change the subject line and readers can easily keep track of the part of the tread they are interested in.

Most modern scripts list threads only by their original subject line. So if a subject starts as "Epoxy Resin" and one branch starts talking about "West System" and another gets going on "Viscosity" you can keep track of it.

I also find with the typical modern script it can be very hard to even find the new posts or track a thread. I often see responses to one reply in the tread for another. They are just confusing.

I've been looking and if anyone knows of a modern script that allows free-form discussion as well as this one does, I would like to know about it.
