My niece spent the afternoon working on the boats yesterday. I was shaping the cockpit frames and doing it by eye. I would mount it on the boat and stand back and study it. She got to helping me and I was really impressed at the eye she has for it. She could spot small imperfections and was really helpful making adjustments to the shape the frames to keep the lines flowing. I would like to say she got it from me but she my niece by marriage. Maybe it just rubbed off on her.

She even had great input on the woods to used on the deck and the hull colors. We tried some scraps in the shop and then came up and tried different colors on the hull in FreeShip. I was amazed at how good an eye she had for these things.

After we quit we got on the net and started looking at Kayaks and talking about deck rigging, paddles, etc. We were admiring a couple of boats some of you have built (Ross's Whiptail especially) and I discovered she has the same exact taste in boats I do. She loves the Greenland styling. Low to the water, pointy racking bows, etc.

What was funny was after looking at all the boats when I pulled up some photos of me paddling a borrowed plastic boat, her first words were. "Thats Ugly!" Got to love a young lady with a eye for boats!
