Yeah, the test definitely wasn't totally scientific. It really only addressed one property of the white graphite. Once I do some real-world tests on some actual kayaks it'll be interesting to see how it performs and holds up.

It would also be neat to run a similar test on just the one-part varnishes and compare a few big-box store brands against Captains. Captains also has a urethane-based version out. Still one component. I wonder if it would be better than the regular, which is really nice stuff. I did quite a few boats with Captains before switching to the waterborne (grrr) and now the two/three-pot urethanes. For the test I did I ran what I had in stock. If anyone wants to make some 6"x6" plates and send them to me I'd be more than glad to run them through the same test. If interested contact me off-line.
