I copied this from an e-mail I got recently:

New York State Park Recreation and Historic Preservation – Marine Services invite you and your organization to join us at Captree State Park on Long Island from 11:30 – 4:30 on May 17th, 2008, for this first time ever event.

We are looking for people to bring their kayaks and canoe and have some fun as they learn about non-motorized boat safety, kayak fishing, and the marine environment.

There will be:
• Educational Displays.
• On water demonstrations.
• Water trail to paddle through
• Prizes to win
