try putting the varnish in a microwave for a few seconds to warm it.
i don't know if the cold surface will still cause bubbles.

: Got in a hurry, found a little problem with my method of rolling Captain's
: varnish. Temperature in the shop. I tried to put on a coat with the shop
: temperature at about 60 degrees or a little less. Not good, the micro
: bubbles generated with the rolling process don't flow out as nicely as
: they do when the shop temperature is warmer. With the currect energy
: prices I guess I'll just have to wait for somewhat warmer outside
: temperatures...not great at waiting .
