Many white water paddlers use a short paddle with a large blade. Most of their use is a lot of bracing and rudders and not really using it to cover distance. Brian hit it on the money - there is no perfect formula for paddle length or blade size. Generally paddlers these days like 220's or shorter. If you could paddle with other paddlers in a club or something like that, you could do some paddle swapping. Nothing beats that to learn what's out there and what you like. Or go to a demo day and try some from variousÊmanufacturers.
