I was thinking about this last night. I suspect there's a compromise between the primary and secondary roles for this boat. In the primary slower speed ditch crawling mode the 'trippy' edges will help tracking - cos the back end does not want to go sideways. That's a good thing. But this 'trippiness' will be bad in the case you describe.
That's the first real compromise I've spotted between the two uses (bet I've missed some!)
Oh, and on lee-cocking - funny you should mention that. I agree it looks like it should leecock and was worrying about that. But apparently the Rockhopper, which also looks to me like it should leecock - very low aft deck - doesn't, it weathercocks. So I'm confused ;-) I wonder if the answer here is where the person is. On a shorter kayak like that that must make more difference than on a longer one, and on a kayak which is very significantly non-symetrical front to back the person can end up well away from the middle also, adding to the effect. I'll draw a person on one of the side views and have a look.
