my two cents:
other than the hands, I don't see much difference between a sliding stroke and a normal stroke with a GP (this is based on my own experiments). Note, the stroke with a GP is significantly different than a euro paddle. However, under normal conditions I would not want to use a sliding stroke for long periods. I would rather leave my hands in place on a full length paddle.
