Greetings, all! I finally have the VJ ready for the water after a lot of repairing and repainting. The original paint job has been altered only because I didn't have time to do anything too detailed. Sadly, the taped edges came out rough, vry rough. I will try to find time to touch them up during the summer. The new varnish makes her look years younger, or at least more polished for a battered old girl. The hex-Boron Nitride (HBN) coating looks just ok. I didn't spend a lot of time getting it perfectly smooth because of time constraints. The link below will get you to a few photos of the finished kayak.
The reason I have so little time is because I hit the river again to carry on with my cross-Canada kayaking trek come May 31. This year I will be paddling from North Battleford, Saskatchewan to the north end of Lake Winnipeg, where I hope Ken and Joe and maybe even Bryan will meet me to paddle the Black Island route. My river route will take me 926 kms. I have hopes of making it to Grand Rapids at the north end of Lake Winnipeg by June 11th in order to meet the guys (or just Ken) for the Black Island paddle.
