: Does epoxy shrink when it dries?? I coated the underside of my deck
: yesterday. Put it on this morning and it has drawn up big time. It's going
: to take some serious force to pull it back into shape. I expected some
: movement but nothing like this!

Back in 2000 when I built my 26" wide kayak my deck rolled up like a window blind. I wish I had a picture of it. It's hard to remember exactly what the circumstances were now but I believe I had it coated or glassed on one side and left it loose from the forms overnight. Unrolling it was a nightmare and to this day I have dips between some strips that I could never get out. I had to put several layers of glass under the deck and on top in the weak areas. On a narrow kayak I don't think you would have the problems I had straightening it out. I believe I used a heat lamp to soften things up. Someone at the time said to get both sides of the deck coated with epoxy so the moisture balance stayed the same in the wood.
