For what it's worth, I've done two hulls with pre-beveled strips. Cedar here is S3S, so I had to rip the shaggy side of each strip anyway. Taking a hint from Ken Blanton, who attributed the method to Jay Babina, I ripped all the strips at 10 degrees on that one shaggy edge. Everything fit together great, with no hand beveling required. In areas where strips fit more or less flat together, I just mated the bevels, one up, one down. The hulls aren't Stradivari, but they look just fine, with no gaps. Plenty of parking lot syndrome has ensued, and there's no use disparaging your own work when people stop you: nobody will let you do it.
