Close, Bill. When sports or other activities grow they end up with the new comers specializing to catch up to the front edge. This ends up being several fractals expanding rapidly. Just the terms kayak and kayaking are huge categories today compared to the way they used to be defined. This also applies to the kayaking industry that needs to appeal to the largest numbers. The sit-on-tops and inflatables have now passed up what I think of as conventional kayaks. Even the present day Greenland movement is getting fractals within as it grows.
Anyway that is my take on it. No offense is intended or should be taken by this post. Just my observations.
Best,
Reg
: Actually my theory is that we're at the start of phase two. We've had the
: first batch of kayakers that started out years back and gradually got into
: longer and skinnier and more expensive boats. Now days we've got a whole
: new crowd of new kayakers starting out now with cheap poly boats,
: gradually they'll progress thru the same stages, in theory. Course they
: have the advantage (I hope) of experienced people to help them along and
: welcoming them to the sport.
