Hi Bryan,

Couple of years ago I bought a cheap Stanley trim plane model 12-101 that has a very sharp edge and holds it and is dirt cheap. It's tiny, but works well on cedar as long as you're not trying to flatten a long surface. See them online for around $7.

Btw, I still use this plane for cutting bevels on strips.
