: As mentioned, my original intention was to use plywood cross sections. But
: since the UHMW is available to me, I wondered if it was possible. I really
: prefer to use the wooden stringers because I already have everything I

: UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight) Polyethylene. It is similar to HDPE (High
: Density Polyethylene) but has a stronger chemical bond in its structure.

: You can Google UHMW vs HDPE for more info. Most of what comes up is for
: woodworking stuff but there is some general info there that makes sense.

While it's certainly possible to use the plastic frames with wood stringers you kinda miss the advantages of both methods doing it that way. Doing it all wood (ply frames and wood stringers) means the stringers can be easily glued to the frames, nothing glues easily to UHMW. Also the ply frames are quite a bit lighter than the plastic ones. The plastic frames allow a fairly easy snap fit to round aluminum tubing, would be tricky to do that with square section wood stringers.

You're only looking at one piece of plywood, the frames are really pretty little.
