: So what do you do instead of bead and cove please?
: Not all that hard to mill. I did the bead first on all strips. You NEED
: feather boards before, after, and above the stock. If you put a second
: board 8-10" before the first you can then space your hands away from
: the task.
: To mill the cove, set up the fence so that the stock is between the fence and
: cutter - OBVIOUSLY this needs a big guard over the cutter. Same 3 feather
: boards. The second cut here will ensure that the stock is a consistent
: width. The cove is pretty sensitive to grain diirection - check for each
: board and ensure that feed direction pushes the stock into the fence - the
: feather boards take care of kickback, but dont stand in the way just in
: case. Well spaced hand stop increases safety.

Hi Dave,
Instead of B&C, you can just bevel one joint edge as you go along. If you bevel a few degrees off all the strips before building, the outer edges will fit tightly together in most areas and the gap on the inside gets filled with resin when the inside is worked on. This bevel can be done as you cut the strips by tilting the saw blade slightly.
Areas with greater curve just need a bit of extra beveling to fit. This is done by dry-fitting to find where you need to bevel.
I think you get more coverage with beveled strips than B&C.
