I am not Ettienne, but can you not adjust the blade guard downward? Lower it so it catches the saw dust? Everyone I have used was adjustable.

And you don't want to feed into a blade turning away from you. That is a disaster waiting to happen. The blade will try to pull the board in .... and you can guess some of the bad things that could happen!
