I am glad to hear the results. Every since I have read about that boat I have figured that would be a great idea. Sounds like it worked as I suspected.

I am finishing up my boat and I have a spring(bungee) loaded skeg. I have been back and forth and I have an idea I am about to try. If it doesn't work I will cut it off. Sand it down and try something else.

My line comes up on deck and I have mounted a little block with a small slot on the deck. It's just as wide as my line to the skeg. I am going to tie a series of close spaced knots so I can just drip the line into the slot and the knots hold it. My original idea was a jam cleat but I never could make one that worked right. I just couldn't do a plastic cleat even though it would work well.
