: How about coming up with some arrangement that can be foot operated?

For foot bracing, I've carved a couple of 1" thick 'doughnuts' that rest against the bulkhead (3" foam). Provides a nice variety of usable foot positions and a little room in the center to stretch the toes, but not room for much else. Thinking I'll want to make keep control easy-to-get-to. Being dynamic, it will inevitably require some degree of attention.

What I've seen out there are recessed sliders. I like the looks, the accessibility and what seems should be the limited amount of thought it should take to know your skeg's position. Can't really imagine a more desirable method. Just not sure how to go about building the device so that it provides enough resistance to counter the load of the skeg's bungee, yet not so much that it binds or becomes cumbersome w/ wet and potentially cold fingertips. Just looking for ideas.
