In my Night Heron I used a Snapdragon WW style band and really like it.

My boat has hip plates which have three slots in each side to receive and retain the band mount straps. This is then covered with 1/4" minicell foam for fitment.

The band is held up by a one-piece double hooked bungee that is attached to the rear bulkhead.

This set-up has worked very well for me and the band stays in place during re-entries quite nicely. Very comfortable, too.
