I found just using a pad in my SC-1 wasn't comfortable so I installed a Spirit Line seat in it last summer. The attached thigh braces are a big plus and make it very simple to install in the boat. My legs still had a little numbness after a while, so last week I removed the top 1/2" or so of the seat to get rid of the ridge that runs around it - the result is a very comfortable seat, at least for 2 hours. The CG is noticeably lower too - I would guess my butt is about 3/4"-1" above the skin. I'm not sure a camping mat would get me much lower than that. I don't have a photo of the reduced height seat yet, but the original install is shown at the link.
