I used this saw to rip strips last fall. It was tough to get it set up as i wanted it, but once things were correct it did a decent job. Not the most powerful but with soft wood like cedar if went alright.
The differences are, mine is about 4-5 years old, might have many changes to the saw in this time. Plus, I don't have the fold up contraption that comes with it. I built a stand with a table extension that I put on sawhorses which is the only way for cutting plywood, but my setup is hardly a "go away easy" thing.
