I see what you are saying and actually I think I was confusing myself unnecessarily. After reading that section 4-5 more times I think what I did is actually correct. The strip touches the form on the outside edge (of the boat, away from center) which is where my marking are. So, that looks like it puts the strips in contact at the spot the designer intended.

Glad I didn't rashly change anything ;-)

As such, Len I don't think I'm going to chamfer the edges at all. Everything is lined up perfectly (or pretty close) and I don't fully trust that it will stay that way if I go to town with a plane (including flipping the strongback to get the deck side). This is my first boat and not the last by any stretch. I mostly want it to look nice, track straight (and not sink), and let me learn new skills.

So, this weekend I tweeked the forms that were a little out, taped up the edges and scarfed 2 full sized strips for the sheer. Ready for phase 2 . . .
