Well-

On the lighter side...

The current issue of Wooden Boat has an article on methods of flipping boats during the building process. There's one that looks like a big canoe rotisserie with an electric motor and another is a wacky contraption by Ted Moores where a 30' sloop is built inside a couple of huge plywood wheels that rest on casters in fixed tracks on the floor, so you can spin it on its axis while you work.

In my experience, you want to flip sides. You'll get a better finish.

Having recently made the shift from a commercial cabinet shop with a spray booth to a home shop without, I have to say that I avoid any product with any ingredient more volatile than denatured alcohol or lacquer thinner, and I don't spray anything. Better safe than dead. But- don't be discouraged if you want to use a 2-part product. Being ambitious is not a bad thing. If you use it, use it outdoors, and roll or brush, don't spray. It will pick up some imperfections, but so would anything you would apply inside. Simply put on an extra coat or two, and polish it like an automotive finish. I have been to professional boatyards who produce artworks that float, and although they spray indoors they have consigned themselves to the same system. You may find that the flaws are so minor that they are well within your tolerance even without buffing.
