My wife and I use GPs in our double that tracks pretty hard. We don't need a rudder due to the extended paddle work and leans we can do. That said, if you build a GP and do not get an experieced GP paddler to give you a lesson, it may not be nearly as good for you as a euro paddle. It also depends on the configuration of your deck. If you sit low compared to the deck, you may not have room to comfortably paddle the GP.
