Sorry, I can't comment on anything strip, but I can comment on a large cockpit. If I remember right, the wren is 24 inches wide. My first SOF is 23 inches wide. Nice, not very tippable. I made my own cockpit which was pretty middle of the road sized. This last winter I made my skinny SOF and took the original cockpit off my first SOF. My wife wanted a large cockpit, so made a new very large cockpit for my original boat. A large cockpit makes a lot of sence for a wider boat. You will never roll the boat and the chances of tipping it are less. The need for solid knee contact is less. IMO, wider boats are for relaxing trips without worries about tipping. A larger cockpit fits this purpose. Easy to get into, comfortable, the wind blows into your boat... I say go for it if its possible.
