: I suspect you're trying to put the glass on the boat straight, with the weave
: following the keel line. The glass won't conform easily doing it that way.
: If the glass is laid on with a slight bias, from corner to the opposite
: corner of the cut glass it should fairly easily conform to the surface.

Thanks for responses Glen and Bill. I use a squeegy to apply resin and layout the cloth at moderate diagonal across the 50" width of cloth. My cloth is on a role so don't have problems with creases. I generally use a brush to smooth the cloth prior to resin application. I try to follow all the procedures as written in Nick's book.

When I wet out the cloth everything looks good, but it seems that when I recheck my work a few hours later the ripples or waves appear. At this point the resin is usuall very stiff and the high spots resist my best efforts to work then down.

I thought this may be a relatively common problem since I have had it occur to some degree on both kayaks I have built thus far. Judging from the responses maybe I am unique to this problem. I will be building another boat this winter and will try to do better.
