Just a little rant that may be useful for someone thinking of ordering from Chesapeake Light Craft.
I ordered the plans, the manual (included with plans), and forms for the Hybrid Night Heron in early/mid June. The plans arrived. The forms arrived. Upon closer inspection, however, they were the wrong forms, those used for building the high deck version of the Night Heron. I'll build the high-deck and live with it. There was no construction manual.
Called CLC and they sent one right out. Three days later it arrived. Wrong manual -it was the one for building the Shearwater series.
Called them early this past Saturday to let them know. There were no manuals in stock, but I did get a promise that they'd print one 'in house' on Monday and ship it via Priority mail. Why they wouldn't just print it that day after messing up the order in three ways is a good question.
Well now it's Thursday afternoon and sure enough the mail came and there's no manual. Called CLC again, and have been told that they can't confirm one was sent on Monday (read: it wasn't) but that they'll ship one today.
To their credit, everyone I've spoken with has been really nice, but I'm not calling to have a chat, I'm calling because for over $200, I'd expect them to be able to send me a few forms, a roll of paper, and a sprial-bound manual within a few weeks.
