The PVC that Tom uses is opaque - no translucency at all.

You'll have to use sewn-on cloth and a transparent coating to get the translucent look.

You can find a clear vinyl with reinforcement, but it won't be as durable as the opaque PVC or a sewn-on skin. Non-reinforced clear vinyl has very poor durability, although the look is really neat.

: I just put a message in at the Greenland forum, but thought I'd ask here as
: well. I need to order fabric for my kayak, and am looking for something
: very cheap and durable - PVC fits the bill. How translucent is it though?
: I love the look of white nylon with the frame showing though. I don't need
: something that extreme, but being able to see the outline of the skeleton
: would be cool. If white PVC is somewhat translucent, I'll go with it, if
: not I'll probably order black.
