: Glen, I am not trying to hijack your post but I have a question that is
: similiar. Should the deck be glassed prior to the coaming riser being
: installed? It is a little late now; I glassed my deck yesterday and had
: one bugger of a time getting the glass to lay right without any air
: bubbles. I put a roving bead in the day before when I put the sealer coat
: on the raw wood but still had problems. Any ideas? I will be building
: another boat as soon as I am done this one.

I am only on my first kayak so my experience is very limited but I reckon you would need to glass the deck first before cutting out for the cockpit & as far as trapped air in the glass layup, there are too many unknown variables for me to give an opinion, I don't even know what a roving bead is ?!?
