A large variety of methods can help with this problem. Elastic bands, bungee cord, masking tape, spring clamps, fishing line, string, webbing straps have pretty well all been used by one builder or another to tame the strips between forms. You will want to use something that will apply downward pressure to the strip without making it bulge away from the forms.
