Bill has a good point, John. I also considered the Night Heron with a high deck before deciding to build a Spring Run L for my second boat largely because of the extra beam and capacity.

Another big consideration is shoe size. With a size 15 foundation, I could never get into a Guillemot - regardless of my height.

The smartest thing you've done so far is to buy Nick's book. Lurking at this forum will be your second smartest act. Good luck and enjoy! My one boat project has turned into an obsession with building a better boat.
