The area forward of the forward bulkhead will be entirely filled with foam as will the area aft of the backrest bulkhead. I'd initially considered spray-in foam, but since it expands in 3 dimensions, and not in just the direction of least resistance, I scrapped that idea and just decided to cut out more 2" sheets instead. Four stringers, 1/2" x 3/4", spaced two inches apart, will run the length of the hull and I may add a floor sheet of 1/8" ply on top of that in the cockpit area to spread out the pressure from foot falls. I'm planning on glassing the cockpit area only on the inside. The whole thing will be skinned with 3/4" foam, sanded down to about a 1/2" thickness by the time I've faired it all out.
Anyway, I'll see what happens.

: compression with that build method as the foam has very low crush strength
: and the bond to the foam isn't the best. Can be compensated with more
