Sounds like no agreement on any one cause. Can we get some information from those that have had this happen? Like, what kind of glue and epoxy, also was it stressed into shape on assembly or flexed? Would a post cure help?
I was aware of Rob's cautions when I put a lot of the dark Peruvian Walnut on my King. I went with Joe Greenley's advice on glue and epoxy. I believe it was Titebond II and the epoxy was MAS, one the few that had a temperature rating. So far so good. The kayak doesn't see a lot of heat here in the PNW though it is in the 80's now. I did stabilize the hull and deck to eliminate spreading before final assembly. Is it luck or is there a common element in these heat stresses? I am afraid to deviate on the recipe until I know.
