Apparently I need some help with basic math looking at my original post - there is a ~3.5" difference between the front and back of the coaming, with the additional 1/2" from floating the back end of the coaming bringing the grand total to 4" at best....

: I may have to cut out the top part of the existing plywood masik to increase
: the overall height, but not before making a solid wood masik and fixing it
: in place to keep the frame from distorting when I cut part of the cross
: section away. I have ~2.5" difference between the front and back of
: the coaming, although the coaming floats at the back so it can be pushed
: down about another 1/2". Looking at some other 'ocean' cockpits like
: I will use, 2" difference is enough even with more shallow hulls, but
: I'm not flexible in the least. I guess I shouldn't get too worked up about
: it just yet, I need to try it out before I start making contingency
: plans...
