: though, who is Lorne Turriff? What a great tool collection!

Lorne is a cousin of my Mother, she was a Turriff. His tool collection is fantastic and he knows where most of them came from, who used and what they were used for. He has made new bodies for most of the planes because the were pretty well all rotten. For some of the tools, he only found the metal part be he knew what tool the metal came from so he recreated a new tool around that piece of metal.

He is the person who gave me the Thomas Gordon canoe when I was there last weekend. The canoe is at least 104 years old! Lorne is getting on in age and he can no longer do any of the work he used to love doing so he preferred to give me the canoe rather than just throw it out. I hope his old tools don't eventually get lost in cardboard boxes in a relative's garage or basement. They deserve to be on display in a museum!
