Hey Bryan i really like the look of the design and the stain.
I have a question regarding sanding...your builder log 2..scroll down to the
Dye" section and it shows the hull with the dye on it in the picture.
Ok i see the cracks/gaps and the hull does not look super fine sanded...my question is do you fill and smooth with glass/epoxy from there..ie is that sanded "good nuff" that you will end up with an acceptable grade after glassing and epoxying?
The reason i bring it up is maybe i have a misperception and have been spending waaay to much time killing myself sanding my boats. Though i would think you might end up with air bubbles in the gaps to deal with. Anyway the sanding and not getting it smooth enough is what i fear with stain.
: If you've been following my Iggy build, I'm closing in on the finish line.
: This is the kayak that the Anas Acuta was based on. Arguably, this is the
: boat that spawned British-style sea kayaking.
: I put the first coat of varnish on the deck today. It's been awhile so I have
: a few sags to sand out before the next coat, but the blood red dye is
: beautiful. It really pops.
: A picture.
