I remember using putty on some of the bigger gaps. I don't remember which putty.

Didn't seem to be an issue, but I wipe up while applying glue so that it doesn't stain the surface. On my next boat, I'm going to skip glue and put a coat of epoxy on while the hull is still stapled to the forms.
