Skin-on-Frame: sealing cedar stringers

I'm about to seal the cedar stringers on my Sea Sled (tomorrow) with Watco oil, but thought maybe I should use neat epoxy. It's a Yost-style frame, and I've already sealed the marine ply with West Sys, which I also used on some poplar (which I probably shouldn't have used). I have enough of both - any strong opinion one way or another? I guess Watco would be quicker and cheaper - I'm hoping to do a plastic film test this weekend. Thanks, Carl
