Have you checked the CLC builder's forum as well? I've seen atleast 2 clc boats built as high school senior projects in the past. I'll try to find the pages later today.

The CLC forum has people from all over. They also have a directory of people who have built there boats. You could check that and see if there are any people on it who live in your area. Also, check meetup.com for a kayaking group in your area. Maybe someone in such a group could mentor you.
