: I have been assisting with a project to take the lines off of a single log
: canoe (two foot intervals, 20 stations) and reduce the drawings for a
: single and double of the same design.
: My question, is there an easy way of scanning my hand drawn lines into a
: computer so they can be cleaned up and plotted into accurate station
: patterns?

Hi Reg,
If you have dimension numbers on the hand drawings, you could plot them into one of the CAD programmes. A bit tedious but it works. Plot the full size canoe then scale for length in particular. Using a 3-D type CAD should let you take off a different set of stations to suit a smaller canoe.
Some cross-sectional scaling may be needed. A 40' log canoe would have used a certain size tree and would sometimes give a different beam/depth to a smaller log canoe.
Is it a particular 'breed' of canoe? And are there any examples of smaller ones of the same 'breed' available to compare?
