It is funny. I am still thinking in terms of stich & glue and developable surfaces. Raising the deck with deck with shims on a stripper makes perfect sense.

I agree with your comments about handling. I have a small plastic boat that I play with in white water. In a sea kayak I prefer a boat that goes straight without much of an argument. No real right or wrong here, just personal preference.
