This is a surf boat that won't see much, if any use on the river. I surf in a full surfers wetsuit and am prepared for a long cold swim. I just put on my third layer and am out of fiberglass. So that gives me 24oz of the worst fiberglass job you've ever seen. Squirt boats seem to easy to pin when running rivers but with all the kick I've glassed into the bow that is less of an issue. Mostly I won't take it on the river because I don't want to break it. This one cost me 650, but would cost over 2k to replace it. I have some 6oz laying arond somewhere but man do I want to paint it and go surfing!

: Suppose it depends on what you're using it for. If it's a squirt boat it
: needs to be radically strong. 36 ounce I'd say would be the minimum. For
: that method of paddling if the boat fails it could rather quickly prove
: fatal. I'd look around at the layups of the "production" squirt
: boats, then make the call yourself.

: If though the boat isn't to be used that way, 16 ounce would be fine. Not
: sure I'd have used minicell foam for a substrate though.
